Choosing your subject

Choosing your subject can be a difficult problem, I find that I can not draw, paint or photograph landscapes, I would like to sometimes but they just come across as a snapshot or ordinary drawing!

Getting the lines right or the perceptive correct or as my good friend Mari says, rule of thirds, this is very relevant, but before any of this can even happen you have to find out what is in your heart.

Art is subjective, you create it from your very being, this can be tricky as you might not know whats there! You can love flowers and I do my garden pays homage to them but I can not draw or photograph them and make them special! I try and keep trying.

My love comes through interacting with people and animals, I adore the contours muscle groupings, just the whole idea of how the individual  moves and breathes.

In design which I am newly coming into (the Kelpies ink drawing at the top of this blog) I got a brilliant book called Celtic Art the methods of construction by George Bain it is great! My daughter wanted a Celtic design drawing of our two mares like the  traditional Kelpies rearing at each other, this was daunting but with research and ALOT of patience I got there!

The moral of this blog is do not quit keep trying but start small:-)

Going Stale

If you had your favourite meal for breakfast, lunch and dinner Monday to Sunday, the meal would soon become stale not as tasty and above all boring!

The same happens in art I tend to change from photography to drawing to painting. Mind saying that I tend to keep to portraits but this is because I find my style suits people and animals.

I do step outside this genre as when I ventured out into my garden and seeing so many beautiful shapes and colours, hints and hues, I don’t think these images are as strong as the new wedding photographs and horse and rider images in this blog!

What I am trying to put across and know you strengths, but don’t stop digressing and exploring and sharing.
