How to tell a story in a single image.

First you have to work out your story, in the photograph above the story is as follows,

Two female Gallóbhan warriors in the 13th century were heading to a battle with the English, in the battle they and the Gallóglach (their male counterparts) sided with Braveheart William Wallace and Nobleman Andrew Murray.

Their journey was interrupted by a stray band of soldiers and a skirmish ensues.

To give the impression of movement I had to catch the furthest away horse in a rear stance while having the soldiers coming up and under her, I have to stay at this point that these guys do this for the movies and are highly trained in combat for filming, so please do not try this at home.

In the foreground the Gallóbhan warrior has attacked the soldier throwing him back creating more movement and increasing the sense of mayhem.

composition wise I have kept the classic triangle drawing your eye through the story from whats happening in the foreground then drawing you through to the movement in the background, to the tip of the spear at the far left.

I have captured a moment in history by distressing the image removing the colour and adding a white vignette, which is a light distortion effect from old fashioned camera's
